Molino de Urdániz is a Michiline two-star restaurant in Taiwan. Molino de Urdániz in Taiwan is the only overseas branch. The main restaurant is located near the Camino de Santiago in Spain. Molino de Urdániz is situated in the basement of a hotel. The menu has some minor changes to the use of local materials in Taiwan, like the dishes using local Taiwanese tea and chicken grown in Taiwan to bring a unique but similar Molino de Urdániz to Taiwanese people.
Molino de Urdániz has many incredible dishes, and dessert is one of them; dessert is a Soap Bar where the main body is made of meringue, toffee, cream, and milk, and lavender, rose, and lemongrass juices are added. After blending until smooth, it is put into a container and frozen to form. The bubbles on the side are made of lavender, lemongrass and ginger. Eating the soap is a bizarre experience, as the lavender makes the dish more soap-like. It was one of the most
memorable desserts I have ever eaten, and their dish “Backyard” never changed, even in the main restaurant in Spain for over 16 years.
Finally, the sparkling water they use in Vichy Catalan is a unique Spanish sparkling water as it is slightly salty and perfect for the dishes.
The reviews of Molino de Urdániz on the Internet seem to be polarized. As it does not have the best service and environment for a Michelin restaurant, the waiter introduces the dishes with a quiet voice covered by the more prominent voices of the other people talking. It is understandable because, in the end, it is a hotel restaurant. However, other groups praise the food, as the chef uses molecular gastronomy to make every dish like an art piece and has different flavors in different ways, like a firework in the mouth.
