Restaurant A was recently awarded a Michelin two-star restaurant. Chef Alain Huang, who had trained for many years at the Michelin two-star restaurant RAW, opened Restaurant A after years of experience. Restaurant A literally means “A Restaurant” and aims to be of the highest quality.
Restaurant A is located at Diamond Tower in Taipei, one of the best places to be in the city, with many surrounding attractions. From the moment you step out of the elevator, the ubiquitous “white” immediately catches your eye. Still, the white is interspersed with wood tones and a touch of green, which invisibly shortens the sense of distance between the restaurant and visitors.
Most of the dishes were served in restaurant A are very creative, one of the most innovative dishes, and it is their signature dish, which was the first “recycled appetizer”, consisting of five dishes: cork, pickled summer vegetables, baked sea urchin with Burgundy flavor, crayfish cocktail, mushroom coffee, and donuts.
For the price of the menu, the lunch set menu costs $ 4,850 NTD + 10% and the dinner set menu costs $ 6,850 NTD + 10% (both include one alcoholic or non-alcoholic pairing). This price represents the average fine dining cost in Taipei, as more restaurants are opening and competing with each other.
The review of the restaurant is primarily positive, as one reviewer stated that the waiter’s detailed introductions and friendly, natural service were unobtrusive yet seamlessly engaging, creating a comfortable and relaxed dining atmosphere. However, the other side of the review targets their service, highlighting that they have condescending staff who made them feel unwelcome and disrespected the moment that they step in, and also for some of the dishes, because the waiter’s explanation was very quiet to say that the temperature is too hot, which burns the tongue and affects the dishes afterward. All in all, it is a restaurant worth dining at when visiting Taiwan.
